The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has issued a final reminder to private sector firms: **June 30, 2026**, is the deadline to meet mid-year Emiratisation targets. Companies must act now to ensure compliance and avoid significant financial penalties that take effect on July 1.

## New Targets for 2026

The 2026 policy requires a **2% total growth** in Emirati employment, split into two phases.

### Companies with 50+ Employees

These companies must achieve a **1% increase** in skilled Emirati staff by June 30.

### Targeted SMEs (20–49 Employees)

Smaller firms in specific high-growth sectors must ensure they have appointed at least **one Emirati** and maintained their existing national workforce.

## Financial Penalties for Non-Compliance

From July 1, the Ministry will impose strict monthly contributions on companies that fail to meet these quotas.

- **Monthly Fine:** AED 10,000 per month for every unfilled position.
- **Annual Total:** This amounts to **AED 120,000 per year** per position.
- **Background:** This is a significant increase from the AED 6,000 monthly fee introduced in 2022, reflecting the government’s push for faster localization.

## Detection of “Fake Emiratisation”

MoHRE is utilizing a **smart inspection system** and advanced digital tools to monitor the private sector. This system is designed to catch “fake Emiratisation”-where a national is hired on paper but does not perform actual work.

### Consequences of Violations

1. Heavy financial fines.
2. Downgrading of the company’s classification.
3. Mandatory corrective actions and potential legal proceedings.

## Action Steps for Firms

The Ministry urges all eligible companies to use the **Nafis platform** immediately to find and hire qualified Emirati talent.

**Legal Tip:** Do not wait until the final week of June. Compliance status is tracked digitally through the Wage Protection System (WPS) and pension registrations; delays can result in automatic fines being triggered by the system.
